What Every Internet Marketer Needs to Know

Affiliate marketing:  Sharing of revenue by online merchants and online sales members, referred to as affiliates. Compensation for affiliates comes from selling the merchant’s product or service, through their own marketing efforts, blogs, websites, etc. Affiliates receive a pre-determined percentage of each sale made.

Pay-Per-Click: Referred to as PPC, Pay-Per-Click is an advertising model used online, where advertisers pay, only when a prospect “clicks” on their online advertisement.  Google is the dominant leader in the PPC industry.

Cost-Per-Click: Also known as CPC is the sum of money that an advertiser pays to an internet publisher or search engine, for each click on their ad that will drive a web visitor to the advertiser’s website.

Keywords: Words, sometimes phrases that target audiences or prospects use in their search queries in search engines.

Keyword Density: A percentage, that refers to how often a keyword is used in an article or on a website.  The formula for determining keyword density is to determine the total word count on a page or in an article; then count how many times your keyword is used.  Density is determined by multiplying the number of times the keyword is used, by 100,  and then divide it by the total number of words.  This gives you a percentage.

Search Engine Marketing: Also known as SEM, Search Engine Marketing is the practice of getting your website to appear in Search Engine results, through paid inclusion, organic search results, and PPC campaigns.

Organic Search: Sometimes called natural search results, these are the results returned by search engines that are non paid, using Search Engine Optimization techniques rather than paid advertising campaigns.

Search Engine Optimization:  Also called SEO, this practice improves a website’s performance in search engine results, generally through improving a website’s structure, coding, and content.  Websites are generally optimized to rank for specific keywords or keyword phrases.

Google offers many free tools that are goldmines for the internet marketer.  You can conduct free keyword research using www.google.com/sktool.

Now that you have some of the mechanics, there’s more I want you to know about Internet Marketing.  First and foremost, you must know your target audience.  That sounds basic, but unfortunately, it’s often overlooked.  Your message and your offer must appeal to the demographic you’re targeting or you’ll make exactly zero sales.  Now is not the time to take a one-size-fits-all approach.

Let’s say that your product targets prospects that are defined as the “working class” demographic.  What do you know about them?  Did you know that they tend to spend impulsively, while having strong brand loyalty?  They are huge consumers or self improvement and do-it-yourself information.  This demographic is very likely to help with viral marketing campaigns, because they share their experiences and recommendations with others.

Is your niche targeting professional women?  Did you know that professional women tend to be focused on personal development, giving back in a charitable or social sense, and keeping their vitality?  They tend to have discretionary income they will part with if you appeal to their values.

Demographic information can be found on marketing forums, through professional associations, chambers of commerce, federal agency websites, and through paid research.  I’ve found forums and social networks extremely helpful in sharing information.  I also look to the competition.  I find the most successful internet marketers, and see what they are doing.

That’s another must-know for internet marketers.  What are the top marketers doing?  There’s no need to reinvent the wheel.  Find out what industry leaders are doing and apply it to your business.  When industry leading internet marketers started to use video on their squeeze pages, the entire internet changed.  Suddenly every marketer was using video to promote their products and services. Video became a staple of product launches.  And one of the best parts about video is that, if well done, it goes viral, quickly.  Search engines also love video.  If you know something works, then do it.

One mistake I see new internet marketers make is they don’t stick with one strategy long enough to know what’s working, or not, and why their strategies are failing.  I’m not suggesting you stay with a losing game plan.  However, if you don’t have a method to measure your traffic, or your click through rate, you won’t know what needs to be changed.  It might be your website copy, maybe your offer isn’t clear; maybe your offer doesn’t appeal to your target audience; or maybe visitors get to your site, see the price and hit the back button on their browser.  Install Google Analytics on your website and find out how many visitors are coming to your site, from where, what pages they visit, how long they stay, the keywords that brought them to your website, and what offers are being clicked on.

I’m going to quickly share some of my thoughts on what NOT to do as an internet marketer,

Do not go so crazy with keywords and keyword phrases that your web copy makes no sense.  Remember, your website copy needs to be written for people.  Its people who hit the “buy” button, not search engines.

Do not forget to create trust with your audience.  You cannot rush your sales pitch or overlook the importance of spelling out the benefits of your offer to your prospects.  If they don’t trust you, they don’t buy from you.

Do not bad mouth the competition in forums, on blogs, or on your social networks.

Do not promote a product or service you wouldn’t use yourself.

Do not rush through the keyword research.  This important research will shape your entire marketing campaign.

Do not forget to include a CALL to ACTION on your website.  You must make it obvious what you want your web visitors to do.

Do not overlook the importance of researching an affiliate program before you begin promoting it.  There are a lot of scams out there, and you do not want to promote a faulty product or service, or work with a company that does not pay you for your sales.

Internet marketing tips that we discussed can definitely help you with your campaigns

You can use a wide variety of internet marketing methods to make money online. New online marketing methods keep coming up along with new technologies. But the real success of Internet marketing lies in getting the details right. So this article will explore some helpful guidelines that you can apply to your own online marketing campaigns.

Your main focus in internet marketing should be to market products you believe in. If you’re just aiming at making sales without caring about the product, then you won’t be in business for too long. The most important rule in Internet marketing is to be honest. You need to be open about the product you are promoting with your potential customers. While you need to be honest and open and inform your potential clients but any disadvantages the product might have, you should do it in a positive manner. This is the secret to long term success with Internet marketing and making any campaign successful. Even though there are many online marketing scams promising you everything under the sun, you need to use a little good judgment when making your decision. Your customers are everything to you, and building a relationship with them is pivotal. You will only see this happening once you show them each and every side of your product. Offer the benefits, explain how it will solve their problems but don’t use to much hype or you will end up with lots of dissatisfied customers. You should have little trouble standing by your product, if you are really offering value. Many new online marketers forget this matter and end up failing because they are simply focused on the money. A vital tip you must remember is that as an internet marketer you need to reach out to new customers while also strengthening the bond you have with your target market. There are many options to attain this goal but the most effective and simplest method is blogging. A blog is vital if you are promoting any product or service online. Despite there being thousands of blogs online, most of them aren’t taken advantage of properly. You need your own blog both to take advantage of this factor and to promote your products. It is an effective way to communicate with your target audience and to promote your products. Not only can you provide value, but you can set yourself apart from the competition.

There are many Internet marketers who aren’t able to live up to their customer’s expectations and there are some who do live up to it. The true winners are even fewer, though, as these are the ones who have learned to exceed their customers’ expectations. These online marketers are the real stars because they both know what they want but also what their audience wants and that is what they offer. When you provide much more than your customers expect, you will find that success comes faster than you anticipated. They are so surprised and awed by the experience that they are immediately more than willing to buy from you again. The degree of trust you can establish is unsurpassed, because, over the long term, nothing else matters. If you don’t deliver what people expect then you will end up with your product’s name being completely ruined in the market. This is why you should avoid delivering less than is expected of you and strive to consistently over deliver.

In conclusion, the above Internet marketing tips that we discussed can definitely help you with your campaigns, you just need to apply them.

Targeted Internet Marketing

Internet marketing is one of the most powerful and consistently-expanding industry presently, which has gained a lot of popularity these recent years. Thus, it resulted to thousands of business that prefer to endorse and sell their products and services through the Internet, aiming to learn, develop, and use the latest Internet marketing solutions.

The battle has shifted from another field, yet the concept of running an online-based business is still the same as of the traditional businesses. Marketing is still the most important aspect of running a business. It is evident on famous brands over the Internet that are spending huge amounts of money just to have the most elegant and eye-catching online advertisement. These huge brands realized that these online ads, just like the typical ads that they make in broadcast and print media, provide huge contributions to the increased marketability of their products and brand awareness.

Thus, it is not surprising to see different kinds and formats of online ads posted on different websites around the web. For online businesses and companies, the same concept still applies; especially since the competition in the Internet is now fiercer than before. To sustain competition, Internet marketing companies must have a definite and flexible marketing plan that is aimed not just on attracting more traffic to their websites, but also convert this traffic into increased sales.

They will achieve this through targeted Internet marketing or targeting potential clients who are in need of their products.

There are various targeted Internet marketing strategies that can be used to increase traffic to your website. However, getting more traffic to your website is useless if you cannot convert it into sales. Getting individuals who will not find any use of your products is good as saying that you are still “invisible” on the Internet. The objective of your targeted Internet marketing strategies is not just to get traffic you need to convert them into real money.

What are these targeted Internet marketing strategies? Take a look on the following items and follow the strategy that you think will work for your Internet marketing business advantage.

Identifying markets- you can concentrate your marketing efforts into the core market that has a use for your products. For instance, your online business is about children’s toys. You can place online advertisements on websites that offer free pointers about children care.

Exchanging links- you can exchange links with other websites that are related to the products that you are offering. This can help you increase the visibility of your online business to individuals who need your products.

Article writing- you will just drive away your potential clients of they will just see images of your products, a brief description, and their tag price. You must provide initial information about your online business as a whole through writing articles. You can post these articles on sites that offer general pointers about a wide range of products. You can also submit it to article directories and have it republished in high-traffic websites. This will further increase your business visibility among clients who are looking for information about the products that they want to purchase.

Online forums and bulletin boards- getting involved in online forums and bulleting boards is a highly effective strategy, since you can encourage potential clients to visit your site if they are looking for advice and help on the products you are offering.

Getting noticed on the Internet is the best way of becoming successful in the Internet marketing industry. Moreover, anyone that you will convince to visit your site, as much as possible, must be transformed into your long-term product evangelizers. Traffic alone is insufficient to help you grow your online business and your bank account. It takes some courage to say to your clients that you “badly need them” and their “business with you is the lifeblood of your business”. That is what targeted Internet marketing is all about getting as much clients that you need and patronize what you are offering for sale.

Internet marketing is a huge marketplace. But with right-targeted marketing strategies, you will see how great and easy it is to earn money on the Internet.

7 Budget Friendly Internet Marketing Tips

It seems everyone now is watching their money and looking for ways to stretch their marketing dollar. Here are 7 Budget Friendly Internet Marketing Tips. Every tip listed can be implemented for under 0 (for the entire year) plus a little elbow grease! How?s that for stretching your dollars!

1. Get a website- a year or less

If you?ve got one-great-make sure its updated. If you don?t have one you need two things to get one up by the end of day. You need a domain name and then domain hosting. You can do both at GoDaddy.com or HostMonster.com. You can walk away with a basic plan for less than 0 a year. Next, Install WordPress and the Atahualpa* theme (google ?Atahualpa wordpress theme? to find) and build a quick website. Do not get roped into using the website builder software that comes with web hosting. WordPress is FREE and comes a lot of support from others who use it at wordpress.org. Bare minimum your website needs is information on how to contact you (phone/email/physical location), list of your products services. Add some pictures and you?re good to go.

2. Start Blogging-FREE

Why? How? Oh my! Here?s how to make it really simple. Again, you?ll need WordPress and the Atahualpa theme installed at www.yourdomain.com/blog (ask your hosting provider how to do this if you don?t know how). Then 3 times a week- type a brief message/article/how-to tip/customer interview/monthly special as a blog post. You can google things like ?blog post ideas for small businesses? and get a lot of tips on things to blog about.

3. Create a Facebook Page for Your Business-FREE

Get your business a Fan Page set up on Facebook. Go to: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php and walk through the step for setting up a Fan Page. After you set up a Fan Page-send an email to all your current clients and customers asking them to join. Whenever you make a blog post-send an update to your fans. Also keep fans updated on specials or discounts that your business might have. Think about offering a ?Facebook Fans Only? special.

4. Create a Facebook Group-FREE

A business Facebook Group will let you communicate and get to know your current customers. A group allows you to privately message members much like someone being on an email list. You can also have discussions in the group about products or services that you offer.

5. Create a Twitter Account-FREE

Local News stations, police departments and local newspaper have started using Twitter to keep followers up-to date. After you set up a Twitter account, invite all your current clients and Facebook Page friends to follow you on Twitter. Then begin watching the conversation. Start by re-tweeting what others have said. That means copying something that some else has said in your tweet update box and putting a ?RT? in front of the message then sending it out to your followers. This allows the message to be seen by others in your group that the original message might not have been seen by. It builds trust and loyalty. People like when you acknowledge what they say or do. Then tweet about things that are going on with other local businesses that are tweeting.

6. Start or continue your email newsletter-0 or less

If you are blogging this can seamlessly be tied together so that every blog you create automatically gets emailed out to your newsletter subscribers. I recommend iContact for this as their service allows for autoresponders, email newsletters, surveys and RSS feeds. If you are blogging 3 times a week-there are 3 emails that go out to your subscribers every week! Plus if they like the article it?ll drive traffic back to your website.

7. Set Up Google Alerts-FREE

Go to alerts.google.com (you need to have a gmail account-create one if you don?t already have) and type in the name of your business in the ?search terms?. Select Type: ?Comprehensive?. Select ?How Often?: As-it-Happens and have it delivered to your gmail address. This service will send you an email anytime your company name is mentioned.

Also set up google alerts for general industry terms or products that are related to your business. This will provide you with ideas for writing blog posts as well as quickly keep you updated on what?s being said about your business and your competition.

There you go! If you?ve already got all these in place-Super Job! Watch out for a future article on ?Advanced Budget Friendly Internet Marketing Tips!?
